About People in Need:

Our growing team in Prague (with a turnover of more than 90 million EUR per year) is looking for a new colleague to become Junior Regional Logistician for Africa.

About the role:

With guidance and supervision from the Regional Logistician, the Junior Regional Logistician will be responsible for providing technical support, guidance, and supervision to support logistics departments of PIN’s Programs in Zambia, Angola, DRC, Ethiopia, Yemen, and Mali. The Regional Logistician will ensure that procedures and processes are in place, unified, and in line with PIN’s and donor guidelines. The selected candidate will work jointly with the managers of support departments (HR, finance, and logistics), and Programme Managers, contributing toward the development and improvement of operations quality, oversight, and impact in the Africa region.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

In close cooperation with the Regional Logistician:

  • Ensures that Operations support the implementation of the Country Strategies and that procedures and regulations are implemented in full transparency and in accordance with donor and PIN rules;
  • Ensures standardization of processes/procedures related to operations of logistics departments;
  • Provides technical support and guidance and trainings to Logisticians to ensure effective operations, coordination between the office management, fleet management, procurement, stock and assets management;
  • Oversees the budgets of logistics departments, improve needs planning and coordination, and contribute to planning needs for new projects with regards to logistics department;
  • Ensures effective communication between logistics and programme departments;
  • Provides daily support to the Logistics teams, continuous capacity building aiming at general independence;
  • Oversees procurement system, implements centralised procurement system, follows all relevant donor and PIN guidelines and procedures, and considers relevant corruption risks;
  • Ensures that key support policies are continuously updated as required and appropriate to the context;
  • Coordinates with HQ Desks and other departments as needed;
  • Substitutes Logistics or Procurement staff at Country Programs when needed;

Main requirements:

  • Openness to long-term travel on regular basis to PIN Country Programmes in Africa (approx. 60% of the time)
  • Previous experience in a finance or logistics position is welcome
  • Communicative level of English (minimum of active B2); speaking the Czech language is an advantage as well as the French, Spanish or Portuguese languages
  • Keen eye for details and passion for working with numbers and various documentation (tender documentation, contracts, invoices, logbooks, warehouse forms, etc.)
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Strong training/coaching skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly with different groups of people and to respect the different cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and effectively
  • Ability to deal with complex compliance agenda
  • Ability to work in difficult conditions and under pressure
  • Flexibility and ability to get quickly oriented in changing environment
  • Experience from non-profit sector is very welcomed, as well as direct experience from a country program level (outside of the country of residence)
  • Experience in technical areas - IT support, fleet, procurement is an advantage
  • For expatriate staff: Having a valid work permit for the Czech Republic
