About the Country Program:

(PIN) is an international, non-profit organization providing humanitarian and development assistance around the world. In Myanmar, People in Need started to work in 2002, when it launched the financial assistance to civil society groups and independent media. After 2008, PIN provided humanitarian and relief aid to people affected by typhoon Nargis. Since 2012, PIN has been operating directly from Myanmar, our programs focusing primarily on supporting local civil society in remote areas, and humanitarian assistance. We are working in areas affected by armed conflicts in Rakhine State and in Kachin State providing humanitarian aid in the sectors of Nutrition, Education in Emergencies, Protection and WASH. In Kachin State, PIN also provides technical support for designing and implementation of the land reform process and works for ensuring the appropriate involvement of civil society organizations. Furthermore, our social cohesion program aims to promote tolerance and acceptance of diversity in different communities in Mon, Kayin and Rakhine States. We are currently expanding our operations into urban programming in Yangon.

Apart from Yangon, PIN has currently offices in Rakhine, Kachin and Kayin States. Majority of PIN funding in Myanmar comes from the Myanmar Humanitarian Fund (MHF), the EU, Czech and US Governments, UN and private donations.

Overview of the position:

The Programme Manager will lead a program focusing on elevating capacities, coordination and agency of CSOs/local responders and actors on social cohesion. This role will require the successful candidate to tailor capacity, systems and financial support for each supported local actor in order to improve performance in safe, relevant and timely social cohesion and other related services delivery. At the national level, the manager is also expected to contribute in strategic plans and objectives of CSO engagement, even outside his/her managed project. He/she will also be involved in business development for future programs in the country program. The Programme Manager´s position will be located in Yangon and will require frequent travels to other townships to Rakhine state to monitor implementation of activities. Due to uncertain security dynamics remote managed may be anticipated.

Do you fulfill following needs?

  • Solid leadership and staff management skills, with a record of managing diverse teams and contributing to the capacity building of national and international staff.
  • Technical knowledge in one of the following thematic areas highly preferred: emergency response, civil society leadership, Security Systems Management, CSO capacity building.
  • Fluent English both spoken and written, national/regional languages – a plus.

  • Salary as per PIN salary scale (subsistence allowance of 1 200 EUR is already included): 3 100-3 300 EUR;
