South Omo: We are helping pastoral tribes endangered by the prolonged droughts

In the south of Ethiopia, we are helping pastoral tribes endangered by the prolonged droughts, which are causing a dramatic decrease of water availability for these local communities. The problem will be worsening in the upcoming dry season, when all the riverbed water sources will dry up.

„I witnessed how the elderly are leaving their food for the younger. They are eating once every other day in order to save the lives of their children and grandchildren. This is how bad the situation is,“ says Michal Przedlacki, who was, in its beginnings, in charge of People in
Need´s operation, supported by European Commission European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations.
