PIN takes part in the #WithSyria campaign

March 15th marks the third anniversary of the bloody conflict in Syria. These horrific events have left 9.3 million Syrians in need of humanitarian assistance, 4 million people displaced inside of Syria, 2.7 million children without an education, and over 100,000 people dead. Although these statistics tell a tale of extreme distress, we must also remember that there is a face behind every number.
In recognition of this egregious event, numerous organizations around the world decided to launch the #WithSyria campaign. Thanks to the support of all partner organizations, the #WithSyria campaign is organized in thirty-five countries. Additionally, global political leaders are starting to join the movement by pledging to do everything within their power to end the conflict in Syria. It is our mission to give the people of Syria hope, and a chance to live their lives without bloodshed and suffering.
The collaborating organizations have organized a number of events, social media platforms and high profile screenings that will take place over the course of the anniversary weekend. On March 12th, a powerful 90-second animation depicting the crisis that features the voices of Syrian children and a voiceover from Idris Elba was released. Another form of support is the Faces for Syria, which is an online app where supporters can “donate” their Facebook profile picture along with thousands of others. All of these photos will be combined to create an iconic mosaic image that will be released to the contributors’ profiles and seen around the world.

The supporters can attend vigils for Syria around the world at historic locations and landmarks such as the Washington Monument in DC, The Eiffel Tower in Paris, Za’atari Camp in Jordan and many more. Alongside with other collaborators, we have made every effort to highlight the devastation that has overwhelmed Syria as a result of the crisis to people around the world and provide Syrians with a reason to have hope for a better future.
