Bosnia and Herzegovina: Emergency Preparedness & Response
People in Need helps people in emergencies, during wartimes and in the aftermath of natural disasters. In addition to delivering aid during the conflict in the 1990s, we also supported populations affected by the 2014 floods. The floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia took dozens of lives and caused extensive material losses. People in Need sent experienced coordinators to the flooding sites, put out a call for donations and distributed material assistance. Additionally, PIN’s experts advised families affected by the flooding on how to deal with its impact.
Humanitarian aid during the refugee crisis in the Balkans
People in Need helps during the ongoing refugee crisis in the Balkans, where currently 140,000 migrants live in local legal and illegal refugee camps in very poor living conditions. Together with the non-profit organizations ComPass 071 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Fokus Plus in Kosovo, Legis in Northern Macedonia, and the Romanian Logs Association - Social Initiatives Group, we provide humanitarian aid in the form of medical assistance, clothing, food, legal and social counselling, and psychological support.
