PROSECUTOR IMPOSES 8 AND 10 YEARS IN PRISON ON YOUNG MEMBERS OF AUN

The Prosecutor's Office requested 8 years in prison for Mildred Rayo and 10 years for Miguel Flores, who have already served almost three months of being incarcerated.
Mildred Rayo and Miguel Flores, members of the University Alliance (AUN) and political prisoners of the Daniel Ortega dictatorship, were found “guilty” on January 25 by the Sandinista judge Félix Ernesto Salmerón Moreno, who is in Ortega's service.
AUN explained that the two young men, "like more than 200 political prisoners in Nicaragua, have been unfairly accused and convicted of committing what the regime calls" a conspiracy to undermine national integrity and propagation of false news. Likewise, he denounced that the relatives of the two political prisoners were not allowed to enter the hearing.
