Are you looking for a stimulating life experience? Want to help a good cause and get a valued entry on your CV? Why not take the opportunity to come volunteer or intern with us?

We offer volunteer and intern opportunities in several of our departments:

Relief and Development Department

Do you want to travel, meet new people, and at the same time do something meaningful? Do you like to learn about other cultures? Do you want to support developing communities? Do you want to gain experience in humanitarian work?

We follow certain principles when offering volunteer opportunities with our overseas missions—these are active in more than 20 countries worldwide. We try to use local capacity as much as possible; up to 90% of our mission workers are locally recruited. We need people with experience working in culturally diverse environments because we often operate in regions with poor security situations or lacking basic infrastructure. We do not send inexperienced volunteers abroad, and we do not offer short-term trips (most voluntary positions are at least six months).

We also work with the EU AID Volunteers programme, where both experienced aid workers and complete novices can apply.

Media Department

Want to gain or apply experience in PR, marketing, or administration? In our media department, you can help us with research, graphic design, article preparation, video editing, administration, translation, or managing marketing analytics tools.

One World Film Festival

You can also help us to organise the largest Human Rights documentary film festival. You will help prepare screenings and debates, present the festival to the media and assist international guests. In exchange for your help, you will receive a t-shirt, entry to film screenings, and a certificate of internship. The festival usually takes place in March, so we recruit volunteers in February.

Didn't find a role that suits you? Don't despair. Set up a job alert based on the position you're looking for, and you'll receive an email as soon as we post such a position. If you are interested, you can sign up to our database of volunteer applicants—which we occasionally use to reach out with additional opportunities. However, we only reach out to these candidates on an exceptional basis, so we encourage you to choose primarily from our currently open positions.
