SOS Moravia: Fundraising appeal launched for region in Czechia destroyed by tornadoPublished: Jun 25, 2021 Reading time: 1 minute
On June 24, a devastating tornado swept through parts of South Moravia in Czechia. In response, People in Need (PIN) has launched a public fundraising appeal to aid victims and to assist in the recovery. PIN is focused on helping those most affected by the disaster, and on providing long-term assistance to the region to complement support from the state.
To gauge the immediate and long-term needs, PIN has dispatched a disaster recovery coordinator who will monitor the extent of the damage and explore how PIN’s resources can best be used. PIN is coordinating on-site assistance with units of the integrated rescue system.
Within just nine hours of launching SOS Moravia, public donations had exceeded 40 million crowns (1.5 million euros). PIN has also released an additional one million crowns (40,000 euro) from the humanitarian fund of the Club of Friends of People in Need.
The devastation in South Moravia is extensive, and the need massive. To donate to SOS Moravia:
